Welcome
As Mayor, and on behalf of the city residents and city council, I would like to extend a warm welcome to the City of Hardinsburg. Our goal is to provide cost effective quality services, innovation and leadership for today and into the future.
Hardinsburg is the county seat for Breckinridge County and is a small rural community. We are centrally located between three larger cities, Louisville to the northeast, Owensboro to the west and Elizabethtown to the southeast, all are within a one hour commute. We boast of the world's smallest Wal-Mart and McDonalds. Hardinsburg has both public and private schools and several denominations of Churches. We are proud of our little town.
The Mission of The City of Hardinsburg is to provide fair and effective government for the citizens of Hardinsburg. It is also our goal to provide safe, potable water to all of Breckinridge County. We will do this by managing with integrity and superior customer service.
The City of Hardinsburg owns and operates Hardinsburg Municipal Water System, and we are growing by leap and bounds. In 1999, we took our first step toward making a commitment to the residents of Breckinridge County, to build a state-of-the-art water treatment facility to bring reliability to the water supply for the 19,000 residents of Breckinridge County. In June 2007, our new reverse osmosis water treatment plant began operations with a capacity of 2.0 MGD and is expandable to 3.3 MGD for future expansion projects. We have just completed a few waterline projects in the McQuady and New Bethel areas of the county as well as the Stephensport and US 60 and Webb Rd projects, and the Phase III project will get underway this summer. Phase III project is approximately 76 miles of water line covering various areas of the county.
